Watering Tips for New Sod: After your new lawn has been installed, it will require frequent watering for establishment.
For the first week, water your sod three times a day for 10 minutes each watering cycle, every day. For the second week, water three times a day for 5 minutes each watering cycle, every day.
Please take note! The soil will be saturated from the heavy watering required for establishment, making it very soft and pliable. Footprint craters will occur from walking on the new sod. Please stay off! Footprint craters are very difficult to repair and are very unsightly, making mowing more difficult than necessary. (This includes pets.) Avoid watering at night, this only encourage fungus and disease.
After two weeks: Go to a regular schedule. For Summer: 5-10 minutes run time, 3 times a day (example: 2am, 7am, and 11am). Do this 3 times a week - Sun., Tues., Fri. For Winter: 5-10 minutes run time, 2 times a day. Do this 2 times a week. If we have a rain storm, turn clock off to save water until lawn needs more water.
Dormant grass: Water 45 minutes at least twice a month.
